Amazing session!!
I found the exercises really easy to get into whilst also bringing up very deep observations.
I enjoyed expressing with my outer body [my] inner body. I also can recognise the difference between European ‘whole’ and Japanese ‘whole’.
I feel alive and fully connected, this workshop has helped my confidence.

This has inspired me to find out more about the technique – and take more workshops!
It has provided me with more games and techniques of developing an ensemble, and also given me the confidence to practice these ideas and techniques.
It has given me quite a bit of insight into some techniques I try to use but also ideas for trying out new things.

Really enriching workshop! This is the first time I have done something like this, but I was made to feel very comfortable and confident straight away, which meant I got lots from it. How to be director/ some kind of leader in a collaborative community ensemble.
How simply Chekhov technique could be implemented in process drama and educational applications.
Directors as collaborators, not simply as leaders.
I will always see how I can apply Chekhov to everything I do. I think it’s such a useful tool for characters, scene work, journey for characters. Also I find it to be easy on the mind and it allows me to use my imagination and work with ease.

Exploring the concept of polarity through atmosphere was very interesting and has given me a way into a particular character.
I am going to apply some of today’s exercises directly to the play I'm rehearsing.
Beautifully structured. The challenge, offering and opportunity to experiment and play with so many tools and to apply them concretely was immensely helpful.
I feel so much more steady, grounded, confident and excited to create a playful laboratory-style space in my own rehearsal room.
I enjoyed the practical tool kit we were given, space to try explore, learn, and fail - and failing was ok!
I will be actively applying my new learning and technique to my practice, can’t wait to try it, test it, explore it and blend it.
The detailed, rich level of engagement in directing was the best I’ve ever witnessed from the teacher. [I also enjoyed] the level of practice, application and reflection, and wider umbrella intellectual ways to identify with technique.
I’ve discovered that the Chekhov Technique correlates so strongly with things I use and want to use in my practice.
I enjoyed the ease that surrounded the whole event, especially the sensitivity used when starting in the mornings and responding to the energy levels of the group.

I enjoyed how well structured it was. Considering it was only 5 days we literally covered so many “grounds”. It was wonderful that is was mostly practical too, as a lot of “directing” courses are sadly not!
I’m very eager to now experiment with using the technique on my next play!

Love the approach as it seems rare to me in the work.
Of particular interest was finding love for evil characters — was a struggle very interesting to experience.
There was a lovely playful working atmosphere and I liked the way that we had a chance to work with everyone in the group. I came away with a lot of new things to play with and a sense of community.
It was so thorough and eye opening. The kindness of being able to participate on a bursary placement made this possible to me at a difficult time- so, thank you for the gift! I’ll be back!
I enjoyed that the five days were well designed and introduced the concepts gradually, building up to more complex ideas.
I am interested in more exposure to this practice, furthering and cementing my knowledge and therefore work; direction. Movement into acting can be so separate within institutions… so I’ll defo be back to work with you guys!
This workshop will affect me in ALL the ways. I’m at a loss for words. I feel a real urge/surge/need/excitement towards this.

Of particular interest was exploring the idea of love, nurture and caring not only for the character but also ourselves. Together with the idea of giving as a desire to give rather than a necessity to do so.
This event has already been useful in my current practice. I have used some of the ideas introduced for a small project that I will use for a presentation for the viva for my current study. Many thanks for that!
