Young Vic Theatre – Workshop on the use of Chekhov Technique by Directors
Workshop/Research presentation on the use of Chekhov Technique for the Young Vic Directors Programme.
Cass Fleming and members of The Chekhov Collective delivered an dynamic workshop / research presentation for the Young Vic Theatre Directors’ Programme on the use of Chekhov Technique and the notion of ‘catalyst direction’.
This event introduced directors to the use and integration of Michael Chekhov technique in directing practice, particularly for devised theatre and adaptation. It also shared archival research (Chekhov Theatre Studio, Deirdre Hurst du Prey Archive, Dartington Hall) along with new insights, theoretical understandings and practical uses of Chekhov Technique for directors in contemporary theatre practice developed in the Collective’s The Little Prince and New Pathways Research Project research projects.
This work was the last of three related events run in partnership with the Young Vic and Royal National Theatre Studio (see previous projects).
