Acting in Dance with Roanna Mitchell
Goldsmiths, University of London
This workshop, part of a series, offered an introduction to Michael Chekhov’s technique as an acting technique for the dancer. Rather than asking the dancer to set aside their expertise and step into unfamiliar ‘acting’ shoes, our work together explored how we can achieve acting moments in performance by starting from a dancer’s expertise.
“Thank you!!! I learn so much with you each time, these workshops are invaluable for me. At the beginning of my movement director journey I couldn’t understand what theatre movement really was, coming from more dance and acrobatic practice and very little theatre. Workshops like this really help and I want to invite more people.”
