Chekhov and Body Mind Centering – special guest presentation / workshop with Dr Luciana Barone, University of Paraná

In this workshop, Luciana Barone will introduce exploratory keys of her research (Goldsmiths, UK; UNESPAR, Brazil), focusing on how to experience the perception and qualities of different body systems approached by Body-Mind Centering™ to a creation based on Michael Chekhov’s acting technique.

This session will be of interest to actors, directors, movement practitioners and people interested in integrating body, mind and artistic creation in general. There will be some practical work, and previous experience of BMC and/or Chekhov Technique is not required.

Luciana Barone is a Brazilian theatre director, actress and professor. Her PhD is on the poetics of Robert Lepage (UNICAMP, 2007). She is a specialist in Jungian Psychology (IJEP, 2017) and a Somatic Movement Educator by the Body-Mind Centering™ program (2019). Since 2008, she is a Professor for the Performing Arts BA program at Universidade Estadual do Paraná (UNESPAR), where she teaches acting. Nowadays, her work is integrating deep psychology, Body-mind centering™, and Michael Chekhov’s Technique. She directed, among others, her own written plays Isadora, a dança do destino(Isadora, the dance of destiny – 2018) and  Ofélia em Off (Ophelia in Off – 2008, 2005, 2003). In 2017, she performed in the dance solo Desvioand, in 2014, she performed in her own written theatrical solo, Iminência. In 2010 she took part in an observation internship with Robert Lepage / Ex Machina (Metropolitan Opera House, New York).
